Jesus said the following life-giving and refreshing words: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28).

If you are tired of watching the news and it seems as if our society has lost its collective mind, it’s time to turn to Jesus and find rest. If you are disappointed with the outcome of the Presidential election and you cannot figure out exactly what is going on in our nation’s capital, it’s time to turn to Jesus and find rest.

There is only one true hope for this great nation and for any nation, for that matter, and it is found in Jesus Christ – the crucified and risen Savior. No political party offers true salvation or hope. Man’s institutions can only espouse the finite wisdom of man.

However, what Jesus offers is infinite and guaranteed to truly satisfy the human soul.  Jesus offers true inner peace to each person who receives Him as their Savior, and He is the only true answer to this dizzying life.

Peter revealed this fact in the New Testament book of Acts; “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

True, national healing can only begin when men and women receive salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. He, alone, can bind our wounds.

The Psalmist was right when he wrote these words: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom He has chosen as His heritage” (Psalm 33:12).  At the time of the writing of this Psalm, God was pointing to Israel, but it is true of any nation that turns to God.

It begins with repentance. Repent means to feel deep sorrow or remorse for sin or wronging someone. Since the beginning of time, man has sinned against God. We must not only feel deep remorse, but also turn from our sin and follow God through Jesus Christ, His only Son. “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

The reason that we exist today is because of God’s love for us. He proved that love through the sending of His Son for man to be reconciled to Him. So, if you are weary of all that is going on in your life and in this world, turn away from yourself and turn to Jesus. He WILL give you rest.
