Q: “Does Jesus provide a truer picture of God than Muhammed?”

A: “One cannot reduce the whole of religious theology, that is to say the question of how different religions relate to one another, to a yes-and-no question. It amounts to doing violence to a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be found there.”

This was the question asked of and the answer given by the new leader of the Lutheran Church of Sweden, Antje Jackelén. With this kind of wishy-washy theology we have to wonder if she was sent from the ELCA Lutheran Church in America. We’ve seen the same kind of ‘all ways lead to the same God’ theology being spewed here in America’s Heartland as part of the Tri-Faith Initiative.

If we, as believers, don’t (or won’t) proclaim that Jesus isn’t just a “truer” picture of God, but that He’s THE true picture of God,  we’ve lost the Hope that He brought us.  If ‘Church’ leaders don’t believe that Jesus is who He said He is, and thus, THE true picture of  God, then what do they believe about Him?  It’s been said that Jesus could have only been one of three things…a lunatic, a liar or a Savior.  If you don’t believe that He’s the Savior, then you must believe he’s one of the other two.  If you believe He’s a lunatic or liar, why waste your time working in the church?  The money couldn’t be that good…or could it?  I suppose it all depends on who’s paying and whose agenda is being promoted.

If (so called) Christians don’t believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to God (John 14:6), then it’s unclear by what standard they continue to refer to themselves as Christians.
